LADY DIANA'S BRIGG PLAQUE TO BE REFURBISHED
Some months ago Brigg Blog flagged up the poor state of the prominent Brigg Regeneration Project plaque above the front door of the Buttercross, which is owned and operated by North Lincolnshire Council.
Coun Ann Eardley, a former Town Mayor, raised the issue at Brigg Town Council's latest meeting, saying the gold lettering needed attention and pointing out that "fungus" was growing on the plaque.
She said another Regeneration Project plaque by the riverside was also in need of attention.
Town Clerk Dinah Lilley said the town centre plaque would be be added to a list of jobs to be undertaken by North Lincolshire Council, while a quote would be sought for the one by the riverside.
The plaque above the front entrance to the Buttercross was unveiled by Lady Diana, The Princess of Wales, in 1988 during a visit to see what the Regeneration Project had undertaken to improve historic buildings in the town centre over some years.
Not 'fungus', Nige....it's an algae...fungus grows on decomposing matter ie mushroom: fungi makes their own food...
