This being New Year and the time for people to make resolutions and forecasts/requests for the next 12 months, Brigg Blog would like to put forward Parking for due consideration.
You can spot many inconsiderate drivers who fail to park between the white lines in the Old Courts Road car park, rendering the adjoining bay all bus useless. We aren't suggesting fines from the council - drivers just need to take some care when parking. It's not difficult, surely, to position a vehicle between two white lines.
Secondly, it would help if people using the short-stay bays dotted about the town centre considered other drivers when parking.
In Bigby Street - opposite the old Post Office - there's room for three cars, if positioned correctly. But too often someone parks right in the middle of the bay - cutting a potential three spaces down to only one.
It's a similar story in Bridge Street (both sides) and on Wrawby Street (opposite the White Horse) where more cars could be parked if drivers positioned their vehicles carefully. There is no need to leave four yards behind and in front.
Short stay spaces are very important to Brigg businesses, including shops and fast food outlets.
Please have a bit of thought for others when parking in town.
.....in 2015, Brigg parking problem will become greater...
ReplyDeleteOnce B&M move into the old Lidl's premises - after Tesco resurface the car-park which is scheduled after the worst of the wibter weather, folks will immediately loose the potential facility of circa 200 free car parking space - very useful when Brigg has big event, such as Briggstock and etc...and even when B&M start operating, there will probably be limited-time parking - no more all day parking.
Once this hits Brigg...and the powers-that-be should have already forecast such 2015 parking problems - those drivers requiring more than a couple of hours will be displaced to Brigg's side street..May I suggest that such roads as Ash Grove, Cherry Tree Drive...and Albert St will be noticeable excessive on-street parking dilemmas...
Once doesn't need a crystal ball, commonsense says it will happen, and happen over-night...
